It has almost been three months since you made your New Year’s resolution and spring break is only a few weeks away, so it’s time to remotivate yourself to be healthy and fit. Here are a few tips to stay motivated to achieving your goal, no matter what it is.
If you are going to be studying for a long period make sure you have a healthy snack, such as fruit, nuts or yogurt, with you to help you stay curb your craving and keep you studying. Remember don’t eat just because you’re bored of studying, this can add a lot of extra calories to your daily intake.
To go along with eating when bored, an idea to help you is to put post it notes around your kitchen with questions like, “Are you really hungry?”
“You are only allowed into the pantry five times per day.”
“Are you eating just because you are bored?”
In addition, to have words of encouragement are one of the best ways to stay motivated. In order to stay on track and motivated, you can also post motivational quotes around your kitchen to remind you of your ultimate goal, whatever that may be.
Some good words of encouragement are:
“Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” — World Health Organization
“The only lifelong, reliable motivations are those that come from within, and one of the strongest of those is the joy and pride that grow from knowing that you’ve just done something as well as you can do it.” — Lloyd Dobens
“Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.” — Jim Rohn
“Desire is the key to motivation, but it’s determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal — a commitment to excellence — that will enable you to attain the success you seek.” — Mario Andretti
If you are feeling the urge to snack because you are bored, try chewing a piece of gum, to take your mind off your boredom. If those don’t satisfy your cravings, try to stick to eating healthy snack foods, instead of junk food from vending machines. Some healthy snacks include fruit, trail mix, cheese and crackers. If this still doesn’t work try doing something else. Take a walk or reorganize your closet, anything to get your brain focused on something other than food.
Snacking is still a hard task, and for some, it’s difficult to snack healthy. Another idea is to have a diet and exercise friend. This will allow you to keep on track and have a person going through the same thing as you are. Having a buddy system will help you stay motivated and help you reach your goal faster and more efficiently. If you can’t find someone who has the same goals as you, keep a journal or start a blog. Both of these things will still help you keep on your path towards achieving your goals.
No matter what your ultimate goal is, these simple steps can try to help you stay motivated from start to finish. Being motivated to work on your goal can be hard at some points, but just remember your driving force can be just reading a simple saying of encouragement or keeping up to date with a friend.
